The Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) is the pioneer School in Police Science and Crime Detection. It is also the first School authorized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to offer post-graduate course leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Criminology (Ph.D. Criminology) and a two-year course on the graduate level leading to the degree of Master of Arts in Criminology (M.A. Crim.).

The Philippine College of Criminology was founded on June 1, 1955 in answer to a public clamor of the need to update police performance. The first and second years Criminology Courses were given government recognition on June 1, 1955 and the third and fourth year courses on June 11, 1956.
Thereafter, on June 12, 1961, the school was granted government recognition to offer a one-year course leading to the degree of Master of Arts in Criminology. This masteral course provided opportunity for specialization and advanced technical training in Criminology. Then on July 31, 1972 the school was authorized to offer a two-year masteral course.
The Graduate School was granted authority under Government Permit (NCR) No. C-09 S. 1993, dated 20 April 1993, to operate a Postgraduate Course in Criminology leader to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Criminology (Ph.D. Criminology).

Scholarship Grants
The following scholarship grants are hereby offered to deserving students who wish to pursue a four-year course in Criminology (BS Crim), a four-year course leading to Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Master of Arts in Criminology (MA Crim) or Doctorate of Philosophy in Criminology (PhD Crim):
Entrance Scholarships for the College of Criminology
1. High School Valedictorians graduating during the immediately preceding school year shall be entitled to full scholarship (free tuition & miscellaneous fees) for two successive semesters with a regular load of not less than 21-23 units per semester depending on the year and semester involved. In addition, they shall be entitled to stipend of PhP2,000.00/semester.
2. High School Salutatorians shall be given one-half scholarship (50% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees) for two successive semesters with a regular load of not less than 21-23 units per semester depending on the year and semester involved. In addition, they shall be entitled to a stipend of PhP1,500.00/semester.
Entrance Scholarship for the College of Law
1. Graduates in a 4-year course accepted as pre-requisite for entrance to the College of Law who graduated with academic honors equivalent to Cum Laude or better or a general average of 1.5 or higher shall be given full scholarship (free tuition and miscellaneous fees) for two successive semesters with a stipend of PhP2,000.00/semester.
2. College graduates receiving a weighted average of 1.5 or 89% in the last year in a course qualifying him for entrance in the College of Law may apply for a scholarship grant consisting of 100% discount on tuition fee by taking and passing the qualifying examination to be announced and given by the Dean of Manila Law College.
Academic Scholarship Grant-PCCR and MLC (Dean's Listers)
1. Full scholarship consisting of 100% discount on Tuition fee and Miscellaneous fee to those with general average of 1.25 or better without a grade lower than 1.75 in any subject during the semester immediately preceding.
2. Half scholarship consisting of 50% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees shall be granted to those who obtained a general grade of 1.25 to 1.5 without a grade lower than 2.00 in any subject during the immediately preceding semester.
3. Partial scholarship consisting of 25% discount on Tuition and Miscellaneous fees shall be granted to those who obtained a general weighted average grade of 1.51 to 1.75 without grade lower than 2.25 in any academic subject during the immediately preceding semester.

Entrance Examination Requirements
1. Identification Card acceptable to the registration adviser
2. Form 138 or its equivalent for new high school graduates
3. If student is a transferee, he/she must present an Honorable Dismissal certificate from school last attended together with Transcript of Records.
4. 8 pcs. 1” x 1” ID pictures
5. A certification of Good Moral Character from a responsible and honorable person from the community where he/she resides or from the school formerly attended or a leader of a religious denomination to which he/she belongs.
Eligibility for Enrollment
1. All high school graduates from any government recognized public or private schools shall be eligible to enroll in PCCR, provided he/she
a. Passes the Entrance Examination given by the school
b. Is of good moral character
c. Has not been convicted of any offense involving moral turpitude
d. Shall not join any fraternity, subversive organization or student association not accredited with PCCR and if already a member shall resign from such membership.
Note: 79% below high school average may be accepted provided they successfully pass the college entrance examination and interview
but subject to student’s passing all his/her subjects during the first semester of the First Year.
Entrance Examination Schedules:
For First Semester : Starts from November to May
Examinations is given Mondays to Fridays 9:00 A.M. to 12 Noon
For Second Semester : Starts from September to October
Examinations is given Mondays to Fridays 9:00 A.M. to 12 Noon
Policies for Foreign Students
A prospective foreign student-applicant for tertiary or college level should be a high school secondary school graduate or its equivalent, and must pass the entrance examination given to all applicants for enrollment, comply with the requirements imposed by the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) and that of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

HISTORY
Former Supreme Court Justice Felix Angelo Bautista founded the Philippine College of Criminology or PCCr and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) granted its approval in 1954. It is the pioneer school of criminology for scientific crime detection and police science education in the Philippines.
The Institution aims to contribute to the country’s security, peace and order through a holistic criminology education and continuous development of students and professionals. In addition, the school endeavors to inculcate integrity, devotion to duty, enlightened leadership, sense of community and love of God and country, as a way of life for students and practitioners of Criminology and Law through the Manila Law College (MLC).
The primary purpose and activity presently engaged in by the PCCr-MLC is to maintain and administer an educational and institution school. The school offers Doctoral, Master and Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, High School Diploma and conduct review classes for Licensure Examinations in Criminology through the PCCr Review Center and Bachelor of Laws and Bar review in the Manila Law College. Its curriculum is patterned after the leading curricula of Criminology schools and universities in the United States, the United Kingdom and other standards recommended by the International Society of Criminology. These, however, are modified to suit the requirements of the PNP, NBI, and NAPOLCOM.
Some distinguished alumni of the School are Director Gen. Recaredo Sarmiento II, Retired & Former PNP Chief; Director Gen. Hermogenes E. Ebdane, Former PNP Chief and Secretary of the Dept. of Public Works and Highways (DPWH); Chief Supt. Pedro E. Bulaong, Former District Director, WPD PNP and presently Assistant Director of the NBI; Director Gen. Ronald Roderos, Regional Director for Region 7, PNP; Director Gen. Ray Roderos, Directorate for Research Development, PNP Camp Crame; and General Nicanor A. Bartolome, Spokesperson and Chief of Public Information Office, PNP Camp Crame.
